Blast from the Past

I just came across this video clip of Mia singing our song,
You Are My Sunshine, from December 15, 2007.
Pa and GG were visiting so she performed for them.
It is so adorable and hilarious!
I love how she adds her own twist to "when skies are gray"-
truly priceless.

Rest in Peace Shelly

We received word this afternoon that our dear Aunt Shelly passed away unexpectedly today.
We love you and miss you very much.

Mia... the Cheerleader

Mia had her cheerleading competition in Fort Lauderdale today.

Her coaches are Ms. Dionne and Ms. Lauren.

She is on a team with other first, second, third and fourth graders.

Since Mia is so petite, she is the flyer (yes, always the one on top and in the air!).

 Their team rocked it.

 They took third place overall.

And also won the spirit trophy.

And the pyramid stunt trophy.

It was an awesome day!
Here is a tiny bit of the end of their performance.
Not great quality, but still fun to watch.
Mia is the first one to be put up in the air for the stunts before moving to the left.

Congratulations Mia Belle and the blue squad!

A Lost Tooth!

Mia lost her bottom tooth at school on Wednesday morning!
Her friend told her to pull on it really hard,
so she did,
right before her math test,
and out it popped!
The tooth fairy brought her a new toothbrush and two dollars.
Beautiful girl.
Wonder how she did on that math test!?

Sadness

Today was the day that I was supposed to hold Ady Mae in my arms.
A special day that I dreamed of and prepared for in many ways.

That will not be happening now.
I am seriously sad.

Easter Sunday

We colored eggs the night before Easter.

Started Easter Sunday at home hunting our eggs and searching for Easter baskets.

Also baked some tasty banana bread.

Then moved onto church at Logan's school for a nice Easter service.
And another egg hunt after church.

Logan and Mia with Ms. Sue Ellen, the School Director for Logan's Pre-K.

Next home to have lunch.  And then another egg hunt at another church.

Ended the day with a movie and tasty ham dinner.
Happy Easter!

Wild Bird Sanctuary

Today Mia, Logan, and Mommy went to The Florida Keys Wild Bird Sanctuary to walk the trails and see the birds.  There were numerous pelicans, cormorants, owls, and birds of prey.  It was feeding time so the kids got to see the birds of prey ripping apart dead birds and mice.  Pretty cool stuff.

We ended the visit with a cool Dairy Queen treat.  Yum.

Mia the Director

Mia had a first grade play this evening, The Little Red Hen.  Her teacher had asked Mia to play the part of the Little Red Hen, but she didn't like the idea of having to sing solos or wearing a mask.

Instead, Mia chose to be the director of the play!  She welcomed everyone to the play and introduced it.  At the end, she introduced all of the students by name and told which parts they played.  She loved being boss.  Mia, you did a fantastic job!

Snowcones and High Dives

The kids and I volunteered at our school booth this morning during Island Fest.  Sold some cookbooks and raffle tickets.  Our reward... snowcones and kettlecorn!

Decided to hit the pool in the afternoon since we were so hot!
Here is Mia jumping off the high dive...
