There were major clogs and the tank needed cleaning. It took 1 1/2 days of Jon and I digging up our rocky front yard just to find the septic tank. The lid was also broken because the previous homeowner had pounded a stake into it.
Two plumbers, two visits from the septic pumper truck, 1 1/2 days of digging, blisters and sore muscles, lots of extra fees being a holiday weekend, a new lid made from boating materials, and 10 dirty towels later... we solved the problem. Got rid of the clogs, pumped out our septic, and cleaned up the mess.
The kids thought it was pretty cool. After it was all pumped out, Logan asked (in all seriousness) if we could go swimming in the septic tank now that it was "clean"!
A most memorable, smelly and expensive Memorial.
Oh no- so sorry your weekend was not as fun as you had hoped. I love Logan's swimming comment- you gotta love kids and their optimism!
